CHRIS WALLER

For as long as Chris Waller puts a lead on a racehorse, he will be perpetually known as the man who trained Winx. Her career ended with 33 straight and 25 Group 1s and yet the fact her last in the 2019 Queen Elizabeth Stakes was also his 100th major was ultimately perfect. His rise from being a foreman with top kiwi mentor Paddy Busuttin to winning the last nine Sydney Trainer's titles has been incredible. Triple Honour gave him his big break winning the 2008 Doncaster Mile and he's made that race his own taking it on a further five occasions. Waller also broke the all-time record for most Group 1s in a season with 18 in June 2019.
